FIELD 01Paid decision blueprint

System discovery before implementation

Make the system visible before you commit to building it.

Map the operation, challenge assumptions, and leave with explicit decisions, dependencies, and open questions.

THE COSTLY PROBLEMUnknown dependencies surface after the build begins.
THE DECISION OUTPUTEvidence, ownership, gates, and a documented Proceed, Validate, or Hold recommendation.

Illustrative terrain · not a project estimate, delivery schedule, or ROI model

Fit gate

Built for one consequential decision—not every problem in the company.

Tusk Discovery is designed for owner-led and service businesses deciding what to change before buying software, automating work, or commissioning a custom system.

STRONG FIT

A real decision with evidence and access

  • A named owner or operations sponsor
  • Real users, records, tools, and artifacts can be reviewed
  • The decision concerns a workflow, CRM, automation, handoff, portal, or custom system
  • English- or Spanish-language delivery is useful
NOT THIS PRODUCT

An open-ended audit or a request to implement

  • No decision sponsor, evidence, or access
  • Company-wide audit across every department
  • Code, configuration, migration, vendor purchase, or rollout included
  • A guaranteed estimate, feasibility finding, schedule, savings, or ROI
PROCEEDEvidence supports defining a next scope.
VALIDATESpecific evidence or access must be resolved first.
HOLDThe case does not justify building yet.

Decision terrain / interactive example

The route changes when the constraints become visible.

Select evidence layers to revise an illustrative build path. The result never estimates cost, timeline, feasibility, or return.

The expedition

Understanding moves in a sequence.

01

WAYPOINT 01

Fit and frame

Confirm one decision, one operating unit, the sponsor, evidence, access, and exit criteria.

02

WAYPOINT 02

Observe and map

Study real work, artifacts, handoffs, exceptions, ownership, tools, and data.

03

WAYPOINT 03

Challenge the route

Test assumptions against edge cases, constraints, adoption, conflicts, and missing access.

04

WAYPOINT 04

Design and validate

Shape the target state, dependencies, alternatives, and factual corrections with stakeholders.

05

WAYPOINT 05

Issue the decision pack

Deliver a Proceed, Validate, or Hold recommendation with the blueprint and 30/60/90 route.

OBSERVED

Facts stay separate from hypotheses.

UNKNOWN

Open questions remain visible in the blueprint.

BOUNDARY

Discovery does not erase technical or adoption risk.

Standard commercial scope

$2,500fixed fee

One bounded decision. Up to 30 calendar days once access-ready.

Payment is due before kickoff. The signed statement of work controls the final boundary, schedule, acceptance, and any separately offered implementation credit.

INCLUDED CAPS
  • One entity or operating unit
  • One decision and its main workflow
  • Up to four stakeholder interviews
  • One observation session
  • Up to five systems and ten key artifacts
  • Kickoff, validation, final readout, and one factual-correction round
SEPARATE SCOPE
  • Implementation, code, configuration, or automations
  • Data cleanup, migration, or integration
  • Vendor procurement, binding engineering estimates, or rollout
  • Legal, tax, accounting, compliance, or security assurance
  • Training, support, or ongoing project management
  • Additional locations, departments, decisions, or late evidence

Blueprint contents

Portable decisions, explicit gates.

The blueprint reflects the stakeholders, systems, and evidence available during Discovery. Implementation readiness depends on resolving its stated dependencies and gates.

ILLUSTRATIVE STRUCTURE · NOT A CLIENT RESULT

  1. 01

    Decision brief

The bounded question, evidence criteria, and a Proceed, Validate, or Hold recommendation.

  2. 02

    Current-state system map

Workflows, actors, tools, data, and important exceptions.

  3. 03

    Evidence and assumption register

Observed facts, hypotheses, contradictions, unknowns, and required validation.

  4. 04

    Target-state blueprint

Components, boundaries, ownership, and information flow.

  5. 05

    Prioritized 30/60/90 route

Dependencies, decision gates, deferred work, and two or three quick-win candidates—not implementation.

  6. 06

    Risk and open-question log

What could change the plan and who validates next.

  7. 07

    Final readout and working files

A decision readout plus PDF and agreed editable formats.

Before the expedition

Know what Discovery does—and does not do.

Is Tusk Discovery the implementation?+

No. It is the decision-and-design phase. Implementation, licensing, and support require separate scope.

What does the standard $2,500 scope cover?+

One entity or operating unit, one decision and its main workflow, up to four stakeholder interviews, one observation session, up to five systems, up to ten key artifacts, and one factual-correction round.

When does the 30-day window start?+

After the agreement, payment, participants, access, and required inputs are ready. Late evidence or expanded scope may require a revised schedule or change order.

Are quick wins implemented during Discovery?+

No. The pack may identify two or three candidates. Configuration, code, automation, migration, or rollout requires a separate signed scope.

Will the blueprint guarantee timeline or ROI?+

No. It documents planning assumptions and dependencies, not guaranteed schedule, cost, adoption, or return.

Can another team implement it?+

The blueprint is designed to be portable. Readiness still depends on resolving its gates and open questions.

Is a future implementation credit automatic?+

No. Only a signed statement of work can define whether a credit applies, its eligibility, expiration, minimum project size, and cancellation treatment.

Discovery fit review

Frame the decision before we price the work.

Four short steps produce a structured fit request. They do not approve a project, estimate ROI, or create a purchase.

STANDARD COMMERCIAL SHAPE$2,500

One bounded decision · up to 30 calendar days after required inputs are ready · signed SOW controls final scope and any later implementation credit.

STEP 1 / 4

Name the decision

Discovery starts with one consequential decision, not a list of every business problem.

Decision point

Map what must be true before the first build decision.

Start the Discovery requestThe form records a fit request. It does not create an implementation, account, or purchase.
